If you lived in Romania: how much tax you would pay on your LLC profit
ANAF usually treats a single-member LLC that is disregarded in the US as a look-through entity: the profit is yours the year it is earned and is taxed as self-employment income at 10%, distributed or not. If you manage the LLC from Romania, ANAF can treat it as a Romanian-resident company under the effective-management test and apply corporate tax instead.

Rank 18 of 38 residences by effective rate at this profit.
- The LLC is a look-through entity and you report the entire profit as self-employment income at 10%, with no expenses or deductions (profit ≈ revenue).
- The foreign dividend is self-assessed via the Single Tax Return (Declarația Unică) with a credit for tax withheld at source, capped at Romania's 16% rate.
- No CAS/CASS registration applied in the calculation (cited separately, see 'what can change it').
- CAS (pension) 25% for the self-employed: minimum base 12 minimum wages (RON 48,600 in 2026) and cap at 24 minimum wages (RON 97,200), i.e. RON 12,150 to 24,300 a year; CASS (health) 10% with a minimum base of 6 minimum wages (RON 24,300) and a cap of 72 minimum wages (RON 291,600), RON 2,430 to 29,160 a year. Neither is included in the calculation above.
- Microenterprise regime: an SRL with annual revenue up to €100,000 (down from €250,000 in 2025) can pay 1% ON REVENUE instead of 16% corporate tax on profit. It is a real and often better alternative, but it is charged on revenue rather than profit, so it is left out of this estimate.
- CFC rules: if the foreign company paying the dividend is passive and has no substance, ANAF can attribute its income to you even without a distribution.
- Effective management from Romania: running the LLC or the foreign company from Romanian soil can make it a Romanian tax resident, triggering corporate tax on worldwide profit instead of look-through or dividend treatment.
